LIP BLUSH TATTOO: A BEGINNER’S GUIDE

If you’re curious about enhancing the natural beauty of your lips,  you may have come across the term ‘lip blush tattoo’. This innovative beauty treatment is gaining popularity, but what exactly is it? In this post, we will break down everything you need to know about lip blush tattooing, from the process to the benefits, helping you decide if it is right for you.

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo service that enhances the natural color and shape of your lips. Using a tattoo machine and water based inks, a trained artist deposits pigments into the lip area. The final result adds color and definition to the lip area. Note: lip blush does not change the shape or size of natural lips. It leaves a soft, natural-looking, shaded-in color that can enhance your lip symmetry, and cover uneven pigmentation or scars.

It is like having on lipstick 24/7 that won't smudge

WHY CHOOSE LIP BLUSH TATTOO?

  • Enhanced Color : If you have pale or unevenly pigmented lips, lip blush can create a more uniform and vibrant look, making your lips appear fuller and more defined.
  • Long-Lasting Results : The effects of a lip blush tattoo can last from one to three years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle. This means less time spent on daily makeup routines!
  • Natural Appearance : The technique used aims to mimic the natural lip color, or enhance lip color, giving you a fresh and youthful look.
  • Customization : Every procedure is tailored to your unique lip shape and desired color, ensuring a result that complements your natural beauty.

DOES IT HURT?

A tattoo on the lips sounds painful — and while the procedure is not entirely painless, your artist will use topical anesthesia to dull the pain.

THE PROCESS

The lip blush appointment lasts around 2-3 hours. During this time, your tattoo artist will follow these steps:

  • Photos
  • Consultation
  • Clean and prep lip area
  • 20-30 minutes topical anesthesia
  • Measure and map out the shape
  • Customize and mix colors
  • Tattoo outline of lips
  • Additional numbing (if needed)
  • Shade the center of both lips

HOW TO PREPARE

We recommend bringing any lip colors you would like the artist to color match with you. If you have a history of cold sores, ask your doctor to prescribe an anti-viral medication a week prior to the appointment. The artist will not be able to go through with the lip blushing procedure if you have an active cold sore. You must be four weeks past any filler or botox treatments around the area.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Initial Appearance : Right after the procedure, your lips may appear darker than expected. Don’t worry! The color will soften and settle over the following weeks.
  • Healing Process : Expect some swelling and tenderness initially, these symptoms typically subside within a few days. The lips will feel dry and also begin to peel, revealing the final color.
  • Touch-Up : A touch-up appointment may be recommended about 6-8 weeks after the initial session to refine the color and shape.

Lip color will heal 30-40% lighter/softer than when it is initially done. A color boost may be required 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment to touch up any areas that need it after healing. Yearly touch-ups with White Rabbit Studios artists are recommended to maintain the desired color.

IS LIP BLUSH RIGHT FOR YOU?

While lip blush tattooing is suitable for many, it is essential to consider your skin type, lifestyle, and health (those prone to cold sore outbreaks). If you’re looking for a way to enhance natural lip color, color-correct lips, or simply your beauty routine, this treatment might be a great fit.

If you are still curious, don’t hesitate to reach out for a consultation. Your journey to stunning lips could be just an appointment away!
